Today, Congressman Andy Biggs, and 21 of his colleagues, introduced the Freedom from Mandates Act to block President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates. It bars the federal government from requiring employers to mandate vaccines or to mandating testing of employees. The mandate announced in early September states that all employers with more than 100 workers require them to be vaccinated or test for the virus weekly. The rules affect about 80 million Americans.

In a press release, Biggs stated, “The federal government may not force the American people to get a vaccine against their will. President Biden’s continued attempts to trample on the rights and liberties of Americans must not be tolerated. His vaccine mandates are just another example of using fear and division to pit Americans against each other and maintain his control. The American people must be allowed to make their own health care decisions. It is their right.”

In a press release, Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks stated, “Joe Biden claims the U.S. Constitution empowers a president to mandate vaccines. He is wrong. Under the Constitution, states, not the federal government have that power. I challenge anyone to identify a provision in the U.S. Constitution that unambiguously gives Joe Biden or the federal government the authority he arrogantly claims.”

Brooks continued, “Liberty and freedom have combined to help make America the greatest nation in world history. The decision to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is a deeply personal one. Americans must weigh the risks and rewards for themselves. That is the essence of liberty and freedom. For Joe Biden to insert himself into Americans’ healthcare choices is arrogant, dictatorial, despicable and dangerous. I will protect liberty and freedom from dictatorial government oppression with every fiber of my being and every tool at my disposal.”

Kevin Roberts, CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, commended Biggs’ efforts. Roberts stated, “The Texas Public Policy Foundation commends Congressman Andy Biggs for introducing the Freedom from Mandates Act. This bill would nullify President Biden’s unconstitutional national vaccine mandate that represents one of the most egregious overreaches of the federal government on the liberty and freedoms of the American people. Forcing employees to choose between their job and injecting drugs into their bodies is not only a violation of their liberty, but for those serving in the armed forces and other military operations, it poses a national security risk. Congressman Biggs’ Freedom from Mandates Act is a necessary first step to push back against the Biden administration’s authoritarian actions under the guise of COVID-19.” – Kevin Roberts, CEO of the Texas Public Policy Foundation

Other congressmen who co-sponsored the bill include Thomas Massie, Matt Rosendale, Jeff Duncan, Jody Hice, Bob Good, Louie GohmertVan Taylor, Jason Smith, Randy Weber, Michael Cloud, Bill Posey, Debbie Lesko, Tom McClintock, Dan Bishop, Chip Roy, Andy Harris, Mary Miller, Alex Mooney, Ralph Norman, and Lauren Boebert.
