Arizona public health officials are reporting one new coronavirus-related death and more than 200 new cases statewide.

The Arizona Department of Public Health Services released updated COVID-19 figures on Tuesday. The number of deaths is now at 807. With 222 additional cases, the cumulative total is at 16,783.

So far, more than 273,000 coronavirus tests have been administered in Arizona. Of those that have been processed, 5.6% have come back positive, continuing a downward trend.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
