The presiding judge in Yavapai County Superior Court is retiring from the bench on July 31.
Judge David Mackey announced his retirement Thursday after 31 years with the county.
He spent the first 13 years of his career as a deputy county attorney and the last 18 as a judge.
Mackey was appointed to serve in Division 1 of the Yavapai County Superior Court in December 2001 by then Arizona Gov. Jane Hull.
He was elected to four-year terms in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 and was appointed as presiding judge of Yavapai County Superior Court in January 2011.
Judge John Napper has been appointed to replace Mackey effective Aug. 1.
